Let’s hold our horses: neither side should get too worked up over SCOTUS’ roe v wade reversal yet

First, math.
50 states
minus 13 states likely to immediately make abortion illegal
leaves
37 states where women can still legally get an abortion.
And of course the Dems are using this as a fundraising opportunity…
I’m pro-choice but I’ll be the first to agree there’s no constitutional right to get an abortion. (I wouldn’t protest a ban on third trimester abortions but this post is not about my personal view on the issue. I will elaborate on it in a separate post. But one quick joke just to add a little levity to such a depressing topic: I asked my mom — I think I was probably 11 or so — if we were pro-life or pro-choice. She said we were pro-choice but in our family, we don’t pay money for someone else to kill our kids. We wait till they’re teenagers and do it ourselves. Ha! You may have extrapolated that that was part of a larger more nuanced conversation about the ethics of taking money to perform an abortion, every child ideally being a wanted child, the immorality of using abortion as birth control, and more.)
As mentioned, abortion will most likely become illegal in 13 states, remaining legal in 37. Therefore neither side should be overly celebratory or apprehensive at this point. Remember, we are being divided and conquered so that we feel pride (self-righteousness) and/or the particularly spiritually poisonous combination of hate + vengeance. Caution. Even my use of the phrase “neither side” as if there are only 2 viewpoints and the issue is black and white is indicative of how successful the divide & conquer the American people operation has been.
The issue was always, how to prevent unwanted pregnancy in the first place?
Two extremist groups (the anti-birth control anti-pre marital sex group on the right, and the pro-abortion-as-birth-control group on the left, funded in part by the amoral pro-profit from the reselling of aborted baby body parts industry) hijacked the national dialogue.
What’s bizarre to me is the many MANY bad takes this morning on twitter by ostensibly Christian people.
Moloch? Really? This tweet is not the only one — just go to twitter and search “Moloch” in the search bar.
Also the hot takes on “hoes” ….
… isn’t just based on an old trope; it doesn’t make sense. The “ho’s” (correct spelling I believe) can still go to 37 states to get an abortion.
As I tweeted earlier today, there is no logical reason for any gloating whatsoever on the part of pro-life people today.

Now that the legality of abortion will be determined by state legislatures, pro-choice people are about to get a taste of what pro-life people have had to do for years: endure the arduous task of convincing people to change their minds. Pro-life people learned over time that throwing aborted fetuses at lawmakers does not work. Compassion and forgiveness do. I predict that pro-choice people will figure out that “shout your abortion” makes them look deranged whereas “safe, legal, and rare” was and is a very persuasive slogan.
What a beautiful world we would inhabit if everyone could fall in love, stay in love, and all children came into existence as a result of making love? This is not the state of our world but it is the world I pray for every day.
In the mean time, a reminder that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
